The Board of Directors of GOIL PLC continued their nationwide onboarding tour with visits to key strategic operational sites in the Western Region.

The tour started at the GOIL Aviation Depot at Takoradi Airport. Ing. Denis Amui, Head of Operations at GOIL, in briefing the board, indicated that the facility was jointly funded by Tullow Oil and GOIL in 2009, to meet the growing demand for aviation fuel due to increased upstream activity. Today, the depot supplies both commercial airlines and the Ghana Air Force, playing an important role in supporting the country’s aviation and energy infrastructure.

The delegation then proceeded to the Marine Gas Oil (MGO) Tank Farm at the Takoradi Harbour, a GoEnergy-operated facility with a storage capacity of 13.5 million litres. Commissioned in 2018, the installation supports bunkering and the supply of MGO to offshore vessels. Mr. Isaac Baffoe, Terminal Manager, led the Board through operations at the site, highlighting its strategic contribution to Ghana’s marine and offshore energy sector.

At the Sekondi Naval Base, the Board was welcomed by Commander Darkwah Charles, Commanding Officer of the Western Naval Command, who guided them through the Base’s exhibition room and briefed them on ongoing collaborations. Discussions also focused on the MGO terminal at the Base, with the Board Chairman urging management to explore alternative uses for the existing storage tanks as marine activity at the enclave has slowed in recent years.

The final stop was the Takoradi Zonal Depot, where Mr. Denis Darko, Zonal Manager, led the delegation on a tour of the storage tanks and the vast land holdings of the company. In his remarks, the Board Chairman commended staff for their dedication.

At the end of the tour, the Board expressed satisfaction with the progress of operations in the Western Region, reaffirming GOIL’s commitment to excellence in aviation and marine fuel supply, as well as regional market growth.
