Our Tema team also shared face masks while highlighting on the need to strictly observe COVID-19 protocols.
GOIL Company Limited, continues to assist health institutions and frontline staff in the fight against the novel pandemic, the COVID-19.
The latest is the Police Hospital in Accra where the company 50 thousand cedis worth of Medical items and Personal protective Equipment to fight the corona virus disease.
The items included Medical Scrubs, Face masks, Bed sheets, Veronica buckets, Liquid soap, Tissue, Hand sanitizers and Gloves.
Making the presentation, the Group CEO/MD, Kwame Osei Prempeh noted that GOIL has already donated similar items to other institutions including, the 37 Military Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, GPRTU, Ashaiman Polyclinic and the National COVID-19 Trust Fund.
He said GOIL will continue to play its role as an important partner in the fight against the spread of the virus as part of its corporate social responsibility adding that the company will be of benefit to Ghanaians as the biggest and indigenous OMC in the country.
“GOIL will continue to partner and collaborate with the Ghana Police service in the uninterrupted supply of fuel to the Police Service and other security services”. Mr. Kwame Osei Prempeh, he added.
The Medical Director of the Police Hospital and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. Mrs. Marian Korboe, received the items and expressed gratitude to GOIL for the kind gesture noting that the donation has come at the right time to help address the COVID-19 disease, specifically, to help the frontline staff to deliver effective services to the affected people.
Dr. Korbou recalled GOIL’s assistance last year towards the rehabilitation of the Executive ward of the hospital and thanked the company for its continued assistance.
Indigenous Oil Marketing company, GOIL Company Limited has presented personal protective equipment (PPE), Veronica Buckets, and disinfectants to the Ashiaman Polyclinic in support of the government’s efforts to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The items, valued at GH₵20,000 comprised Veronica buckets; medical overalls; 2000 pieces of hand sanitisers; 5 pieces of face shield; 500 pieces of surgical nose masks; 500 pieces of medical gloves; paper towels, and 10 gallons of liquid soap.
This follows an appeal from the Ashiaman Polyclinic to GOIL for support, which was promptly responded to by the Oil Marketing Company in accordance with its commitment to promote the safety of frontline workers.
The company has already made similar donations to other institutions in Accra and Kumasi, since the coronavirus disease broke out. The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, the 37 Military Hospital, and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union have all received support.
The company has also donated an amount of GH₵200,000 to the National COVID-19 Fund to support government’s efforts at combating the disease.
Presenting the items at a brief ceremony at the Ashiaman Polyclinic, the Public Relations Manager of GOIL, Mr Robert Kyere said the company recognised the remarkable role of all frontline workers in the fight against the coronavirus disease, hence its decision to offer them support.
“We believe that making profit is not the only thing that should drive the progress of the company. We are all aware of this debilitating disease, which does not affect either the rich or the poor. We think it is important that we also assist in our own small way to help frontline workers do their work in safety. Without overcoming the disease, it is obvious that we cannot undertake any social or economic activity,” he said.
Mr Kyere urged health personnel at the hospital to “use the items judiciously” to achieve the purpose of limiting the spread of the disease.
Mr. Kyere was accompanied by Mrs. Rita Addo, GOIL Zonal Manager, Tema.
Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Head of the Ashiaman Polyclinic, Dr Mavis Opong-Addoh expressed appreciation to GOIL for the gesture, describing it as the “right donation at the right time.”
“This disease doesn’t know any borders. It doesn’t respect any person. So when we protect ourselves in our own small corner, we are protecting everybody. This donation that you have made, they are the right donation at the right time. It so fit for purpose and we are very grateful for your help,” she said.

The items comprised 100 pieces of full body gear; 100 pieces of surgical gown; 10,000 pieces of hand gloves; 100 gallons of hand sanitisers; 100 gallons of rubbing alcohol, and 75 gallons of disinfectants.
The 37 Military Hospital becomes the third institution to benefit from the oil marketing company’s benevolence within the COVID-19 crisis period as the company had already extended support to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).
The company has also donated an amount of GH₵200,000 to the National COVID-19 Fund to support government’s efforts in combatting the disease.
The Group CEO and Managing Director of GOIL, Mr Kwame Osei-Prempeh, donated the amount to the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Opare at the Jubilee House recently in Accra.
Giving back to society
Presenting the items at a brief ceremony at the 37 Military Hospital Wednesday, the Chief Operating Officer of GOIL, Mr Alex Josiah Adzew said the gesture was in keeping with the company’s commitment to give back to society.
He said the company recognised the serious nature of the coronavirus disease and its implications on the country, hence its decision to support institutions that are at the forefront of the fight as part of its corporate social responsibility.
“This is part of our corporate social responsibility. We have already made some presentations to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the GPRTU. We have also contributed GH₵ 200,000 towards the COVID-19 Fund. As the leading oil marketing company in the country, we want to be very responsible and to be seen as part of the nation’s effort in fighting COVID-19,” he said.
Adjustments
Mr Adzew revealed that the company has also made significant adjustments in its operations to guarantee the safety of its staff in response to the various preventive measures declared by the government.
“A lot of things have changed. Most our staff are working from home. We have made significant adjustments in our operations to ensure that we keep minimum staff and not endanger anybody and sail through the situation,” he said.
He said, although, the company is experiencing low patronage at its stations, “we are managing because these are not normal times. We believe that things will get to normal in the not long distant future.”
He implored its customers to adhere to all the preventive measures outlined the government to forestall an escalation of the disease.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Commander of the 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Nii Adjah Obodai, expressed profound gratitude to GOIL for the gesture done the hospital.
“We appreciate GOIL so much for coming to our aid with these essential items. It so critical to us and we say thank you for the support. This will go a long way in assisting us as personnel to deal with the issues that we have as far as COVID -19 is concerned,” he said.
